Second day in Cuernavaca now we started earlier, the objective to known te center of Cuernavaca where there are various touristic attractions and where everything is close. Coming to the center the firs that you can visit is “Palace of Cortés”, a construction built on a Tlahuica territory, by the way it seems that this building is the oldest building from the New Spain conserved until now, at the beginning it was the Cortés’s residence and it has had several uses through history, including the independence where José María Morelos y Pavón stay like culprit; Now days the place is the biggest anthropological museum of Cuernavaca, and it receive the name of “Cuauhnahuac Museum”. Hernan Cortés
Note: time ago I wrote about Hernan Cortés’s house in the town of “La Antigua Veracruz”. I found interesting to be in these two places that in a moment of history where inhabited by this singular character. Continuing with the history. In front of the museum there is a roundabout with the statue of Hernán Cortés in the center. Crossing the street you can see the palace’s gardens, where some rocks of big size were deposited. Over them some inscriptions could be appreciated, these rocks are Tlahuica’s ruin structures from different places of Morelos. "Cuexomate" an old deposit to save grains, for example maize and take it apart from rats and other rodents.
The museum begins with an exposition of Morelos’s history through the time, the first hall is about geographic zone and some fossil rests most of them animals to be specific a certain kind of mastodons, following halls are dedicated to Pre Hispanic cultures of the region on this rooms there are carved rocks and tools made of a clay, or a similar material. While you’re advancing by the museum, the history is advancing to the Spanish Conquer, following by the Revolution and the contemporary age, with a section of the revolutionary Emiliano Zapata.
The tour through the museum took us basically the morning, in the afternoon would be spent in taking the lunch, walk by the wainscot and visit another touristic spots of the city =, included the Cuernavaca’s Cathedral and Borda Garden. But it will be until the following publication.
